Not quite the weekend we planned.

Friday I was SO sore from Body Pump I took the day off knowing I would have the 5K on Saturday, then we planned on Body Pump again for Sunday afternoon. Saturday morning it was pouring and thundering, so we slept in. No 5K. We tried to go to the BBQ contest but that was cut short due to all the rain. We ended up having a good Saturday night with tons of people we normally only see during football season, then Sunday we stayed in bed until 1pm, so while that was all good for me and Mr. P, not so great on getting (physically) healthier. Sunday afternoon we went to the gym to go run and do Body Pump, and we both made it 30 minutes WALKING on the treadmills, no Body Pump. We just destroyed ourselves this weekend...bad food, not working out. In fact, I didn't even journal my points for Saturday or Sunday.

I took my Fat Test this morning, and scored a scare lower than last week, with a 90.88% (down .2lbs from last week). I just looked back at March, and I can see that I have been half-assing it. I have lost every week, but for a grand total of 6 pounds. Don't get me wrong, 6 pounds a month is decent and if that is my pattern from here on out, I could live with it. BUT, I know how I am working the system, and I can do better. Mr. P and I have decided to work hard to get our healthy momentum back. We are stocked on good food, we have solid gym plans, and maybe this weekend will be a boating weekend with some camping...we can decide in a day or two once we get a somewhat reliable weather report.

In other news, Mr. P and I have decided to run the Disney 1/2 Marathon in January. Before I can begin that training, I have to be able to comfortably run 20+ miles per week, and if at any point during the 1/2 marathon I am not keeping up a 16 minute mile pace, they will pick me up and take me back and I won't get my medal. YIKES. I have.work.to.do. Right now, I can only consistently run 2 miles at a go, so upping that to 13.1 miles will be a significant hurdle, but I am up for it!

I am hoping that concentrating on the running (something within my control) will help me NOT focus solely on getting tenure (at this point, OUT of my control), and will keep me from being the brooding, moody basket case I have been the last several weeks!

ETA: Ummm. No iPod while running, and I would be stuck inside my own head with. "This hurts. This is stupid. This hurts. I am an idiot." ? I never saw that in the rules. I better check on that one more time.

ETA AGAIN: From the Disney website:
For everyone's safety, baby joggers/strollers, bicycles, inline skates, skateboards, headphones, and animals will be prohibited on the course. I skipped RIGHT OVER headphones. jeez.

Phew! Great for you on plannning for the 1/2 marathon!! I couldn't stand the thought of running without an mp3 player and/or dealing with the crowds so while asked a couple times, I knew Disney was a no-way, no-how. But I know a lot of people who are doing 1/2's this year and next including the Disney. You (& them!) have my utmost respect--I can get through a 5K, but any more than that just makes me cranky. ;)

OMG NO IPOD?? wouldn't happen for me. it's the ONLY thing that has allowed me to run AT ALL.

ps: i've learned that knowing i have to be in a bathing suit in 2 weeks is the best motivation i've ever had, EVAR OMG SHIT.

Hmm yeah running that far with out an iPod would be VERY hard.

I also had a crappy week and only lost half a pound. Do you guys have a Chipotle there? or one of those places that makes giant burritos? I ate two of those last week thinking they would only be like 10 points (stupid me, I know better than to eat something THEN check the points) well they are like 23 points each...I went WAY over my points even with my activity points...I will do better this week.

March was a tough month all around. I say good riddance! Six pounds seems like a miracle to me given what a horrendous month it was! You really are my hero, missy.

My trainer and another friend told me this was the rule--changed from the past. Apparently this is increasingly common in races these days b/c of "safety concerns", but I have personally never run a race that did not permit personal music devices.
Better to be sure before you sign up, I guess?

Yay, 1/2 marathon!
BOO, no iPod.

I gained 4 pounds over spring break. I think I would have been ok if we hadn't visited my parents, where they served 3 meats one night at dinner. My fridge is stocked with good stuff, too.
Here's to getting back on track!

That sounds like a nice weekend to me. Sometimes you just need a break, you know? And body pump KILLS. Literally. They must have some kind of death rate they don't tell you about.

Yay on the 1/2 marathon! Someone today told me that the sensors for the races messes with the Nike+ and that may be what happened. I didn't read the fine print. But, you will be distracted at the 1/2 looking at the other runners, the attractions, etc. I am sure the DIsney 1/2 is pretty cool. We want to do a 1/2 too, but probably not the Disney one due to lack of fundage.

And let me hog all the commenting- that's awesome that you lost a little weight. It IS something. I have lost zero since January and I have not only been running more but longer too. It sucks. But I am getting my butt in gear for April. I convince myself that beer is totally not affecting my diet and it so is.

That's an awesome goal, to do a half marathon!
I was just watching the thirtysomething episode called "Tenure" about Gary and tenure and all the politics and how completely out of his control it was....oh wait, you don't watch thirtysomething do you? Well...maybe you should :) It's so awesome. OK I'm a dork.
I grew up watching my dad run marathon after marathon. And yet the most I've run is 11 miles.

My husband has done a few runs that day no headphones. He listens and just wears his garmin 305 but he says many people still bring them and use them. He is doing the Disney Marathon next year. Crazy critter that he is LOL

how exciting that you've signed up for the half....

no iPod? that is just wrong on so many levels...

I listened to my Harry Potter book on my iPod when I did my half....I can't imagine not having the distraction...although...you'll be running with hubby, so at least you'll have company...

We are going to sign up for the Disney Half as well. A lot of people are making a big deal about the no headphone thing, but I bet it will be so much fun, you'll forget all about it! :)
