nachos taste like guilt....

I wrote a blog post last week about the goals I have set for myself, and the ways I was going to reward myself when I reach those goals.

I left one out, and it has been gnawing at me all week.

When I first started this journey to healthy, healthy, healthy, I completely cut out one of my favorite meals.

For those POINT tallyers (I am not sure that is even a word, but I am sticking with it), that is a whopping 32 points, which is more than I am even allotted for a whole day's worth of eating. But look at the calcium, the fiber, the iron, the saturated fat. Yikes. Anyway, if you have never had these nachos, DON'T EVER DO IT. They are super delicious, and especially with a Diet Coke and a great book. mmm. Back to the story. I cut these out, completely. With a small caveat. I promised myself that when I lost 40 pounds I was going to have them.

Then I wrote that post that was all sanctimonious with prizes and not one little mention that I planned to reward myself for losing 40lbs with 79 grams of fat at one sitting. I was sitting pretty at 39.8 lbs lost last Monday. I knew that this was going to be the week I was going to have the nachos as my 40 lb reward.

Today when I weighed, I was down 1.2 lbs, so that has brought my total lost in 2009 to 41 lbs. I am now 85.77% of my January 5 weight. And even though I broke that 40 lb barrier, I am NOT going to get those nachos.

I had them yesterday.

Hee hee. I am a firm believer that depriving yourself entirely of the things you love to eat is cruel and unusual punishment. And I know we are not supposed to use food as a reward but dammit, as long as you only do it once every 40 lbs, I vote YES to the nachos!
BTW, I've been meaning to comment with the title of a magazine on Clean Eating that I picked up at the bookstore, but I haven't been able to locate the magazine or consequently find the title. :p

YEE HAW, 41 lbs!!! You deserved a treat, I say. It's not like you're eating them every day. (Sorry, I'm kind of an enabler...)

if you cut back 5 points a day for the next week, the indulgence would not be a big deal. I agree that you should indulge in the things that make you happy, as long as you don't make a daily habit of it and you take accountability for it.

Oh good, I'm not the only one who does this. Although I still haven't been able to bring myself to eat another giant burrito after realizing one was like 25 POINTS, which is sad because in my mind I believed it was healthy.

I will see you this weekend. whooo hooo!

God( I have seriously tried to type GOOD about four times and it kept turning out God so I think I should leave it) so God Job on the weight loss!

Mmmmm....Moe's. I agree with the first comment - depriving yourself of something just makes you want it all that much more. And there's nothing out there that says you can't have nachos. :)
Congrats on the weight loss!

ha ha... i agree with wafelenbak.

and yes, that calcium and iron is amazing.

everytime my hubs goes to moes he gets the Homewrecker which, quite frankly, is the rudest burrito ever.

wow Hotch - 41lbs.... that is just great! I hope that you enjoyed the nachos. 79 grams of fat - don't you wonder some times how they can even manage to create a dish with that much fat?

In any case, a reward is supposed to be something out of the ordinary - that is what makes it special and a treat.

Meanwhile, not having the nachos today as a reward cause you had 'em yesterday? PRICELESS - dude you should be a mastercard commercial!!

Moe's nachos are the best. So, so, so good and sinfully bad for you. YAY on 40 lbs. WOOT! WOOT! And YAY on only having a B (almost a B-, egads!). You are rocking it!

I can see you and me hitting up a Mexican joint together. Me loves some Mexican food!
