It was fun just to get to ask

I think many of you know that my sister moved to my town last week, and our houses are 4.2 miles apart. We have accordioned most of our lives....we lived together, then far apart, then closer together, then VERY far apart, then closer together, then far apart, then further apart, and now close together for the first time in 9 years, exactly today, because we moved to Texas the day after my sister got married, and today is her anniversary.

Did you get my super awesome symbolism? Get it, like an accordion? My mom plays the accordion---by choice, if that gives you any insight....

Today after class I was getting ready to go to lunch and I got a lightning bolt. DUDE, your sister lives here, maybe she can go to lunch?!?!? So I texted her, and boo, she was busy, but it was GREAT that it was even possible. In retrospect she is probably glad that she was buying her new router because here is how the end of lunch went:

Me: I am ready for my check.
Server Girl: Here you go, I will take it when you are ready.
Me: (Putting my credit card on the receipt) All set.
Server Girl: (WALKED AWAY)
Me: (in my brain) What the fuck?
Server Girl: (comes back) Can I get you a 'To Go' cup?
Me: Sure, I'm all set.
Server Girl: (comes back with soda in a paper cup) Whenever you are ready...
Me: (in my brain) WHAT THE FUCK?

So I snatch up my card and my receipt ready to go pay my own damn self and that is when I realized I put a Chick Fil A gift card down instead of my credit card.

oops.

P.S. I was NOT at Chick Fil A.

That reminds me of well, me! Once I went to use my debit card to pay for groceries. Could not figure out why it was not working. Turns out I was trying to pay with my Safeway Club Card. Oooppps!

PS: I'm VERY jealous that your sister lives close to you now. Mine is across the country and it makes me sad.

I'm laughing with you, because today I tried to pay for my haircut with a Kohl's $10 off card...there must be something in the air today!

LOL! Did she realize that though? Or was she a dummy?

I wish I lived that close to my sis. Well, kind of ;)

OF COURSE YOUR MOTHER PLAYS THE ACCORDION!!!!!!!!!! That makes me type in all-caps.

I got into an argument with a grocery clerk once because my credit card was declined 3 times. I was swiping an empty Starbuck's gift card over and over.

ha!!!! I've given bouncers all sorts of random cards instead of my ID when trying to get into bars. and considering I was still outside the bar at the time, I was completely sober... :-)

Hee hee. I like Jen L.'s story about the Starbucks gift card.

I knew that your mother played the accordion without you telling me.

Ha! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does dumbass things like this! Can you imagine what could have been going through that girl's mind? 'Is that woman trying to pay me with a gc to another restaurant?!' You should have asked her, 'What, you don't accept Chik-fil-a here?'

I am laughing at you! Too funny.

Ha ha ha! I'm glad I got out of my bad mood enough to come over here, because this totally cracked me up. :)
My mom played the accordian throughout her childhood, so *technically* she probably could now, too. And my co-worker with whom I get along best? Her mom played the accordian too. Funny.

This one put a smile on my face. I love when we can recognize our own faults. Even if our recognition is delayed. =)

god, i laughed so hard at the chicfila thing i forgot to mention the accordian.
very clever analogy w/ you and your sis and the accordian. (i wonder how many hits you'll get from people searching for accordian. not like you say THAT every day. accordian). i think you should write a blog/screen play about your mom, surely THAT would be turned into a movie.
