If I quit you, then maybe this is why...

http://theoatmeal.com/comics/misspelling

I am buying the poster for my office.

BUT, you don't have to worry about me telling you about how much I loose* each week, since I am GAINING weight. Yup, I am watching my weight go up. Not high up, but a little up, then I lose it, then a little up, then I lose it. I was SO cocky about how I well I would do in January and February that I asked for a large wicking shirt as my prize for THIS WEEKEND'S HALF MARATHON. I am on track to finish the whole thing whilst jogging (albeit, most people can probably walk faster than I jog after 11 miles).

My goal is to get an 'official' time, which means I have to finish in 3 hours. I did a trial half two weeks ago, and I was over by twelve minutes. (I didn't even lose weight THAT week.) However, I am assured that this course is pretty flat, and gorgeous, and I can use my iPod to keep me from holding my breath just so I don't have to listen to myself pant for 3 hours.

*I was just about to post this, and I wasn't COMPLETELY sure that you guys would know I was being facetious and that spelling makes me SO nuts that I decided to add this disclaimer.

That poster is the bomb! Love, love, love it!!!

I am so impressed that you are doing a half marathon...a couple of weeks ago when I finished a practice 5K run, I looked at my mileage - 3.1 - and thought, my god, if I ran a half, I'd have 10 more miles to go!!!
You are awesome for doing it, and I'll bet you get an official time.

That poster rocks.

Also- I can't believe the half marathon thing. I seriously could not run to my mailbox. It's down the street, not on my curb, but still...

Great poster. I twitch any time I see someone use "your" when they mean "you're." And I beat myself up regularly when I mistype "their" instead of "they're." Bad Vee! No cookie.

Slight quibble with the "than" example, though. That sentence could mean "I can hold my liquor better than a panda bear can hold its liquor," but it could also mean "I can hold my liquor better than I can hold a panda bear."

Just sayin'.

My spelling pet peeve is y'all! It is Y'ALL, not ya'll or yal'l (WTF is that?). Short for you all, put the apostrophe where the missing letters are! Sigh.

You can totally rock this half marathon! You'll be all pumped up and super fast! So excited for you- can't wait to hear about it. And holy cow woman, that's a long way to run!

I don't know what the hell to say about the weight gain. I am trying to read more articles about gain/breaking through plateaus because I am working out MORE and NOTHING is happening.

OMG, I'm totally buying that poster for work. I LOVE IT. And I think it'd rock if you post an official time. What a great goal!

Oh gosh. I hate it when people misspell those words. You know what I always misspell? MISSPELL!!!

I hate the back and forth weight-loss tango! I was definitely doing better last year and during the holidays too. Meh. At least you are running! That helps. Good luck at the half!

i love that poster. although i will admit to sometimes not knowing when to use affect and effect. i mostly know....but when stumped i just try to use another word altogether. or just decide to not write about whatever it is i had planned. im lazy that way.

i thought of you today when i logged onto facebook and was invited to be a "fan" of a blog i read. a poorly written blog. shoot me.

I am really, really, really impressed that you are going to run a half marathon, and only slightly less impressed by your use of the word "whilst."

I'm gaining, too, sister.

Awesome poster!

You're going to do GREAT for the half-marathon, I know it!

I'm unhappy because my work computer won't let me open the poster and now I don't get it. WAH.

I'm not losing weight either, and I've started doing push ups and crunches on my days off from running...but then I guess I just eat more.

Well I'm sure I have made some poor spelling choices along the way...I blame it on my uber fast typing skills (100+ wpm dude!) but with errors :)

The best blog mis-something I ever saw was someone wrote: "Today I'm up and adam!" I still read the blog but um....

I am, as always, impressed with your running stamina. I can now only run long distances on the trails. If I'm on the street I automatically poop out very quickly. Can't wait to hear how it all goes!

i am in awe of your running prowess : ) yeah you!
as for the spelling--oy vey. for the very life of me i always misspell defintely (i always want an a in there) also have trouble remember which to use, effect or affect. to this day when i am typing sincerely i have to mentally say each letter in my head. yeah, for a journalism major who's been a writer/editor most of her career, i suck at spelling.
