in 1492 and while I wanted to celebrate by rocking out discoverer style, it is just a regular work day for us here at the U. (...which while on the subject I am oh so relieved that this U should be my permanent employer...thank you so much for bearing with all my angst and sending all those thoughts my way). ((I say should because there are still 2 more obstacles, but neither should be even close to deal breakers.))
Here is my normal Monday morning routine:
1. Get up at 5ish (can I tell you this is the first time ever that I am excited about the switch back to standard time?!? I need more daylight in the wee hours of the morning for runs. jeez, I am so smug I might vomit a little).
2. Go on run.
3. Weigh-in (I know, I know...but I do it this way EVERY week), and somehow, some way I am down 1.6lbs this week. Stress must weigh about 4 lbs since I ate all.weekend.long.
4. Shower
5. Prep breakfast and get dressed
6. Go to work
7. Get ready for class and eat yogurt breakfast
8. Go get GIANT diet Coke from Chick Fil A.
9. Teach class.
Fun, eh? Anyhoo, today during step #8 I was assured by several people how much the baby Jesus loves me and that he wants me to love him and that there are people oh, so ready to help me with those things and hey, here is your free, tiny, green New Testament.
One of the joys of the deep south. Free bibles for one and all.
ETA: It was not AT Chick Fil A that I got the hard sell...random dudes around campus.

We get the people with the little green New Testaments up here in PA as well. I tell 'em all:
"No thank-you. I have the whole thing at home."
To which they ask, "Which version?"
Me: "King James, NIV, and Living. I think I'm covered."
Nevermind I haven't cracked one of 'em since college.
I am so with you on the end of daylight savings. I'm SICK of commuting to work in the pitch dark and running with caving lights on.
And while I used to dig ChickfilA a TON (pre vegetarian days I really liked their chicken) and I still ADORE their brownies, I never got the hardsell church stuff. I didn't know they did that!
Congrats on the weight loss! You rock!
Those dudes must not live out in the boonies 'cuz they never bother me. Or maybe they know better? Yay for 1.6 lb. weight loss stress and eating and all. I love Chick-Fil-A. I would be too tempted to get chick'n minis though. Yum!
I need the morning daylight too. Because it is killing me getting out of bed in the dark. I am not sure why it is affecting me so much this year!
I'm with you on the DST ending, although it will mess with my evening bike rides...wonder if I should get a light?
Congrats on the loss - love your stress analogy!
yeah for running and more weight loss.
my bible is in the shed, along with everything else that is outdated and doesnt fit into my life anymore.
straight to hell im going!
I am mad impressed that you don't get any food at Chick Fil A. I have exactly zero willpower where they are concerned! If I so much as smell them at the mall when I'm across the street at Best Buy, I gotta go in! (Am weak.)
Nice loss, esp. during all that stress!!!
I'm just trying to figure out where I can live that I get longer daylight all around. Closer to the equator maybe? (does it work that way? obviously I am forgetting my grade school science)
I had people asking if I had yesterday off and I just chuckled. The only way it affected my day is that I couldn't make the call I needed to make to the Direct Loan people. :p
I had to laugh at this!!!! We noticed at the Chik-fil-a in small town here, they play the religous station!!!! I have NEVER heard that at a restaurant before, and if anyplace anywhere else I've ever lived had tried it, there would have been picketers! It's a wonder they don't call the soda 'Jesus Juice'!!!
i'm sooooooooooo glad the stress of tenure is mostly done. that must be a huge relief.
i love chic fil a, though we rarely go there. i never knew pickles on chicken sandwiches were so good until cfa showed me the light. i'm glad jesus loves you but would be freaked out to be accosted around campus.
