Thanks for all your well wishes and thoughts out into the blogiverse, but alas, Mr. P did, indeed, get the BIG.FAT.LAY.OFF. He got a month of severance pay, and directions to the unemployment office. Jerks.
He is okay. Actually better than okay. He is nearly giddy with relief, you can almost see the stress draining out of him. I feel awful about how unhappy he must have been for him to be so happy to have gotten let go. So we are going to look at the silver lining and enjoy having a bunch of time together. I have worked, shopped and cooked sauce for dinner. Mr. P has filed for unemployment, taken out the trash, cleaned the litter box, and swept the floors.
Now we are about to take the College Kid to buy some some khaki pants and pick out a refrigerator. Talk about living the dream.

My husband got laid off last year and it was kind of a blessing in disguise too (at first, any way). He was so stressed there!
Good luck!
I can't tell you how many people I know who get laid off, freak out a bit, and then settle into absolute relief from no longer having to work in a place where they really weren't all that happy. I'm glad to see Mr P had that epiphany sooner versus later ... and do hope something good comes his/your way soon.
How crazy is it that he's so relieved? Must have been a terrible situation for him...glad THAT stress is lifted. Sending good thoughts your way for a wonderful job/opportunity for Mr. P.
im so glad youre able to look on the bright side.
and im breathing sighs of relief for mr p.
have fun fridge shopping and here's to finding a new job sooner rather than later. hang in there family p.
Well, that stinks about the lay-off, but thank goodness he's taking it well.
Sending positive thoughts HotchPotch Central. And here's hoping karma turns around and bites Gelmet in the bum.
I admire your attitude. They say when one door closes, another one opens.
Sending prayers your way and hoping that his next job is more fulfilling for him.
Oh dear. I hope he gets a new job soon---something he likes a whole lot better.
i'm glad he's taking it so well. i think i might have had a little bit of relief but mostly i freaked the hell out.
are we going to hear any stories about when you stayed w/ your mom before your final move? : )
Sucky that he got laid off, wonderful that he's happier. Perhaps he and I can hang out in the unemployment line (or the chat room) some time. ;)
I'm sorry to hear that you guys are out of a paycheck! I understand how he feels; when I was laid off from my last 'real' job, it was a relief, too. The stress of knowing it was coming but not when, and of dealing with bosses who were more concerned with my getting things done before I left than with me as a person, was horrible, and I was thrilled on my last day. It's nice they gave him something - my company, my huge multi-national trillion doller company, gave not one cent to any of us. Yet another reason I smiled on my way out.
Here's hoping he finds something he likes soon!!!
